Club Future Planning Meeting Well Attended

Thirty six members attended a two hour meeting last Sunday to look ahead and plan and make improvements for the Club.
It was encouraging to have a good mix of club personnel – Life members, club committee, supporters, coaches and current players all joined to brain storm ideas on how the club can move forward after a challenging 2018.

New ideas were discussed and debated, with many forward thinking plans now on the table for implementation.

Three or four key ideas will be prioritised by the Club Committee. This will be around player recruitment, funding opportunities and attracting coaches and managers. There was also a good discussion on what members wanted to make the Club a good social environment.

As we all know, giving the ideas is the easy bit – to implement them always requires effort and time (and in some cases money). The Club committee will be hoping that those who attended the meeting (and also those who weren’t present) will also be willing to “do their bit” to enable these good ideas to come to fruition.

Results from 28th July

Premier season completed
Seniors beat Taieri by default – they will play Toko in Milton this Saturday for the bottom 4 Presidents Shield.
Magpie Colts beat Harbour 67-0 – final game

Club Finals Day

Club members are encouraged to head along to Club Finals Day at the Stadium this Saturday. It’s a new concept by the ORFU and is a good initiative. There are no Southern teams featuring this year unfortunately but there should be some good games on show.

Games start from 11.30am with the Premier final kicking off just after 3pm. There will be a bar set up on the ODT Slab. The whole idea of this day is for the rugby community to get together no matter who is playing, have a few beers, few laughs, catch up, sign off and acknowledge all levels of the club game. It’s really important to celebrate our club footy and a good turnout will reinforce to those who run the game how important we all consider it.

Plenty for the kids to do also with bouncy castles etc.

Make sure you wear your own club colours blazers, jerseys, scarfs etc and if you could encourage your social networks to attend that would be great.
