Just a reminder that this Saturday is our annual Old Members Day. Due to covid disruptions to the season this year, we haven’t arranged a specific team reunion gathering. This year is really about getting as many former members and supporters down to the Club on Saturday afternoon to watch some good footy and catch up with old friends.
The feature game at 2.30pm will see the Premiers taking on the Green Island Grizzlies in a must win match in this shortened season. Following the bye last week the Premiers will be keen to get back on their winning ways after a disappointing loss to Alhambra-Union, while Green Island are desperate for their first win after being considered championship contenders preseason. The Selwyn Inglis Memorial Trophy is on the line and Green Is currently hold it and we want it back!
In the curtain-raiser at 12.45pm the Magpie Colts also take on Green Island. The Magpies are unbeaten this year and there is a lot of talent in this team coached by Barry Stevens and Paul Miller. Green Island are in their first season back in the Premier Colts grade and will be keen to stop the Magpies run. These players are the future of our Club.
We really encourage you to call into the club after the game and enjoy a drink and a chat with old mates, or you can watch both matches from the comfort of the lounge out the windows.
The kitchen is open and is selling great $10 meals.
It is also our first opportunity to say congratulations to Club stalwart Roy Daniels who was recently elected as the President of the Otago Rugby Union.
Please pass on the word to others who don’t check websites or facebook and don’t always know these days are on.
I look forward to seeing you there.
